Flood in Manila...

I was watching Fox News this weekend when they flash a news about the flood in Manila. I was so shocked about how the water rise so quickly and the rain didn't stop for more than a day??? So I immediately search in Youtube if there are some videos taken by locals and I was not wrong there are so many in there that by watching it makes me sad. Yesterday hubby told me that the death rises to more than a 100 already, I was shocked again and thinking about the people living under the bridge, along the rivers, it won't be any doubt that the death toll will rise dramatically. I pray and hope that there will be no more deaths or missing people. Will pray.

Remembering my Papa....

Today, September 22 is my Papa's 20th year death anniversary.

I remember my father as a very cheerful man. I never see him frown nor heard him being grouchy. He always has his flashing smile na makikita mo ang kanyang gold tooth hehe. He is the one who teached me how to cook yup, not my mama. He is a good cook and so am I hehe.

One time, we went to Cebu and as far as I could remember it is just me and my papa. I really don't know what we do in Cebu but what I remember too well is that we went to this building they called it White Gold which at that time is so famous with there revolving chair or table. I was so amazed with the view but I was so happy and excited to go home when papa bought me a set of toys. Those set of toys consist of lechon2x, pots and pans, forks and spoons, plates and glass. I was so proud of it I thought I am the only one who got that kind of toys in our neighborhood hehe.

I remember him came to my PTA meeting I was surprised when I saw him at the back of the room with some of the parents. I remember him as always "spoting" or well groomed in other words hinde yan lalabas nang bahay na hinde talaga nag-ayos. With a pomade on his hair, collared shirt, ironed pants and a black shoes. I don't remember him wore a tennis shoes ever! But he wore flipflops though when at the house but when he go out he wore shiny black shoes.

I remember him bringing always a present for us. He is the kind of man na hinde mahiyang magdala nang "buyot" or basket specially that basket is full of pasalubong for his family. At yan ang isa sa namana ko, na kahit kandahirap na sa pagdadala, dadalhin ko for the sake of my family kahit wala nang sa akin okey lang basta for my family dadalhin ko.

I remember him as a very honest and hardworking man. And to top it all a very faithful husband to my mama. One time he told us about "what you sow is what you reap" from the bible, he says that he couldn't do things bad that sooner or later  his kids will pay for it.

I also remember him about what he told us about inheritance. He told us that we don't have hectares of land to inherit nor money. But he told us to study hard for knowledge couldn't be corrupted nor be steal by anybody. He teached us honesty, be respectful, have faith in God and love in your heart and that is what I inherit from him too.

I remember when everytime he came home from work we have a blast. We watched movie, I remember those kung fu movies. We go eat to our favorite halo-halo restaurant, we attended mass together.

I also remember that he is the one who teached me how to dance and sing. Those tango and waltz is his favorite and as I write this entry it brings a smile on my face. As for the singing we always sing the standard songs like Frank Sinatra, Nat king cole, Tom Jones, etc.

I remember so well when at night (no electricity yet at those times) after dinner we all gathered at the porch and listen to a drama on the radio specially when the moon is full hehe. Even now I still remember the title of the drama it's "Ang misteryo sa Villa Lagrimas". Yes it is a horror kind of drama with all the sound effects like a chain dragging and all. So we ended up gathering  around to either to our mama or papa cuddled up.

I also remember his being a disciplinarian. He gave us warnings to our wrongdoings but when we do it again be ready with your butt because for sure he will belted you with his belt!!!

I remember when me and my brother are teenagers everytime he came home he checked our body of any tattoo. He asked about our performance in school and always reminded us not to have gf/bf or else we better stopped going to school and better find work. Geez I just ended up having crushes at school bohohoo no boyfriend.

I remember after his stroke he was bound in the house 24/7. He never lose his smiles nor his being a joker. That time I was already working in Iligan and I see to it that every weekend (Sunday) I can go home. For the fact, that he is in the pier waiting for me. That time wala pang uso ang cellphone ni wala pa ngang cellphone noon kaya walang text2x. So there are times that I couldn't be able to come home. Ayun nag sesentimental na, and my mama will tell me what happened the next Sunday I get home.
And when I get to come home the next Sunday, pagmakita na niya akong nakababa na sa ferry boat iiyak na yan. He was not sentimental before but after his stroke nagiging senti na siya. Which is when I remember it now makes me feel sad, nakakatuwa and at the same time nakaka-missed din. Kasi yong iyak niya may halong tawa and smile pa rin.

When he died I found out that he is well loved by our relatives, friends, neighbors and family. They only have a good word for my papa even until this time when I meet some of his old friends and relatives. His integrity will be inculcated in my heart and my life forever. For Papa who is now in the bosom of our GOD rest in peace and I missed you so much! sniff....sniff...

What I like is the pena colada because of the coconut taste of it. And my last shot ito!!

A busy weekend.....

This post is a kind of late though but I think better had a post here than nothing at all lol! Anyhow, this last weekend we are kind of busy. Remember earlier I had an enrty about cancer and death, well my husbands cousin Linda died of lung cancer and my across the road neihbor died too. So last Thursday in the afternoon we went to the funeral home for a visit for our neighbor and Friday we went to Lapeer for my husbands cousin Linda for her wake. Friday we came home around 9pm already I was too sleepy and tired already. The next day Saturday, both of the deceased burial schedule are the same, so hubby decided that we will just go to the interment of his cousin Linda and will just later go in the afternoon for an Irish vigil for our deceased neighbor. By 10:00 am we are already in the road going to Lapeer at 11am the serviced started at about 12noon we are heading to the cemetery. After in the cemetery we headed to another church for a dinner.
By 2:00 pm we are still in the church hall and I have a kiddie party to attend to at the mall. So I called my friend telling her that I am still stuck at the church with my husbands relatives. Around 3:00pm hubby and I headed to the mall and arrived there safe and sound. The thing is if pinays are together di talaga makakalimutan ang picturan moments so I took pictures with friends.
When we get home from the mall we headed to my step-sons house where the Irish vigil is being held (my step-son's wife is the neice of our across the road neighbor who just died), so we stayed there for a moment but hit the road again going home. I was dead tired it only take me a little while just to clean up myself and I doze to sleep as soon as I hit the bed. By Sunday, we went to church and for the rest of the afternoon I took a long nap. So that is how I spend my weekend busy bee it is.

Where were you?

Today is September 11, and eight years ago something unfathomable happened here in America the twin towers in NY were being hit by two different planes, the pentagon and etc. Today is the day of remembering and mourning for thousands of innocent lives was cut off by terrorist.
But where was I when this things happened? It was early morning here in America at that time just a few minutes after 9o'clock. I was in the Philippines at that time ( 9 PM) I was inside the internet cafe emailing my fiance (my hubby now) when all of a sudden over at the counter of the internet cafe I heard shouting and screaming so I and some of the people at the cubicles stand up and gathered around the counter and watched the TV!! There I saw two planes hit the twin towers I couldn't believed what I saw! I had a goosebumps all over me I thought at that time this could be the beginning of the 3rd world war. It was terrifying to watched and what transpire after that.
I asked hubby about where he was at that time too. Him and his sister was in the parking lot outside Gordon Food supply when his cellphone rings and somebody in the family told him that the twin towers were hit by two planes. Then they turn on the radio and there it was the news was all over.
Then a friend of mine told me that her mother who was having  a vacation at that time here in US was about to leave the house of her sister but couldn't find their cousin who is going to drive  her going to New York (because she was in New Jersey) and most specially going to visit one of the twin towers!!! Her mother really wanted to be in New York in one of the twin towers early so she could be the first in line as a tourist to see the top most part of the building. But because the cousin was no where to be found that morning they started driving going to NY almost 9am. And while they are inside the car they just heard the news over the radio that the twin towers was hit by two planes. My friends mom ( as was told) was so shocked she keeps on crying and crying they had to return to NJ because she couldn't stopped her crying and besides chaos where everywhere in NY at that time.
To all the souls departed  MAY they ALL rest in PEACE and to all the families who lost a loved ones, relatives and friends  GOD be with you!

Cancer and death....

This entry is kind of sad I hate to post an entry that is full of negativity because in one way or another it affect me and the readers but though life is wonderful and beautiful along the way there is always trials, heartaches, pains and sufferings. In other words in every rose there is always a thorns but hopefully you or I is not the thorns on somebodies life but the roses hehehehe.
Yesterday, our across the road neighbor which happened to be my step-sons wife Uncle died. We really don't know what he die for but we knew that after he/they came from Peru for some mission ( I don't know if it is medical) they got all sick!! Their were 20 people of them who went to that country but all of them got sick except 2 people. They said they think maybe it is about swine flu but they get rid of that and then they treated him of pneumonia then I guess it complicates then later he died. It was kind of sad because him and his wife are close to us too.
Then at the reunion last Monday we heard that one of my LH cousin is sick with cancer and she is in hospice care now. I remember she had that illness long time already but this last winter her only daughter just died so  suddenly and I think and I am for sure that she was so devastated by it. Now the news among the relatives says that maybe hanggang 10 days nalang siya. That is why one of her son who is a registered nurse took a definite leave to attend to her mother. It is very sad.
Then yesterday my other step daughter called her dad and tell the news that Louie is in the hospital. And he is diagnosed with bladder cancer!! Geezz why is this happening?? People here in America are diagnose mostly of cancer is there any other illnesses that is not this kind? Louie is not a relative of ours but a friend of my youngest daughter (who died of cancer too) and a friend of the whole family. Well Louie is an ex-convict, my step-daughter prayed for him and continually visited him when he was inside the jail. When he got out from prison my SD provided him his spiritual and financial help to start a new life. Then my SD died and that left Louie alone (he has family but didn't help him) but he was able to kick back to a new life. He makes money by cutting trees and splitting trees into woods then sell it. He is making money of his own and he is doing good of his craft. Then this news came it is devastating I know it is hard on him too, yes we gonna pray for him but what else can we do?
As I have said earlier why their are so many people sick with cancer? Is this about food that we eat or our lifestyle or what? I have some theories of my own but of course this is just for me I don't want to complicate things here without any kind of proof to back it up. As I have said before and I will say it now that praying to somebodies good health is not a prayer in vain, continue to pray to anybody whom you know because we all need it.

Hi to all friends! Happy belated Labor day to all here in America. I don't know if people are happy about what is happening to us here in US, for a fact that 19 or 14 million people don't have a job! But still we have to be positive in everyday that God created for us and cling to what we knew best. But guys and gals that is not my story for the day, I am here to ask ANYBODY who can help me how to post an entry when you are assigned to post an advertisement of a product.  Please let me know!!

Westview Orchard and Cider Mill

Today is kind of hectic or shall I say a busy day. I am supposed to go to my friends house for movie night out but hubby wanted to visit his Aunt and Uncle at Lapeer. We were at Lapeer for awhile and when we are about to leave I saw this advertisement in the newspaper about peaches in Romeo, Michigan. I asked hubby if he likes to go to Romeo he said yes and so off we go and with the help of our tomtom gps navigation we arrived at Romeo safe and sound. I like the town though, it is clean and neat  many  people were walking around town because it is the towns Peach festival, all the parking lots were full of cars but we didn't stop at the town rather we went to Westview Orchard and cider Mill a couple of miles going south from the town. When we get there I was amaze how huge is the farm I even didn't see the apple orchard nor the peach trees. After hubby park the car we went immediately to there bakery, where I find  people lining up to get there pies, cinnamon rolls, peach doughnuts, apple ciders, cherry garlic dip and other stuff. We only bought a gallon of apple cider and a half dozen of peach doughnuts. I am not a fond of doughnuts because it is sweet but when I tasted their doughnuts it was really good and with the apple cider it was double good. After we ate we walked across the driveway and went to this old building. The old building was a school building but they make it now as an ice cream house and next to the old school house is another old barn which they make it as a cider mill. I told hubby I wanted to go apple picking because they allow "U-pick" apples (some apple orchard don't allow it) but since it was a little bit late we leave the place but didn't go home immediately we went to Lordelyn's and Jeff's house because they invited us for a dinner. Though it was already late almost 5pm and all of my other Filipina friends went home already they still welcome us hehe. Stayed quite a bit at there house just talking about anything and everything till we said our goodbye,  I looked once again at their swimming pool, it looks  so inviting the water is clear but it was already kind of cold. I'd like to share some of the pictures that I took at the orchard. Next time I am going to an apple orchard I see to it that I will be picking apples to my hearts delight yung feel na feel ko na nasa America ako! ^_^

Activities tonight...

Hubby called me late this afternoon that we are going out for a dinner with his son and his son's wife. Well I remember it is Friday and we have a restaurant close by that cook good fish chips. Around 6 pm we were headed to the restaurant and when we were there it smells fish good fish ^_^ So when the waitress came to take the orders I of course ordered the perch fish chips, with salad and french fries. But aside from the tartar that they usually dip their fish I asked for the vinegar kind of odd huh but not me!! LOL! Here is what I got.
We were in the driveway when I smell something really really good. Hubby point to me the full moon how nice it is to look at and how God made it so perfectly when all of a sudden I smell a really really good scent. I thought it was kind of a perfume worn by somebody but we are just alone in our driveway. Then I remember my DAMA de NOche!! Yesss it exudes good scent at night and hubby kept on smelling at it, as I  explain  to him why it is called Dama de noche or in english Night blooming cestrum. Here is the picture.

The BER begins...

It's SeptemBER 1 today! I remember when this day arrived my mother used to play Christmas songs. One time I asked her why she played Christmas song on September 1 and she answered me it is because Christmas is just around the corner. And today just of know where I played a Christmas songs too. It was not a Christmas song that makes me depressed or kind of slow music but I played the cha-cha version of Christmas music hehe. It makes me dance and remember my mother today.
Anyhow, before tears starts to run down the cheeks I took a picture of my 3 year old clothes line. I washed some of the towels and pants and put it outside to dry out. Thankfully though the weather is a bit cold but the sun is up so it get dry.

Bluebird

Again, watching my backyard birds this morning. And as I was watching a small cutie pie Bluebird passed the window. I grabbed my camera and ...
