Thanksgiving Dinner at my Aunt's house

Guest post from: Jeromy Haney

Every year my family and I get together at my aunt's house where she prepares a big turkey and we all bring our best dishes to enjoy. All of my family is there including my other aunts, uncle's, cousins as well as my grandparents. The kids all get the board games or take a football outside to get some fresh air while we adults sit around talking and putting the final touches on our Thanksgiving dinner.
We usually serve the traditional Thanksgiving dinner including a turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, my grandpa's famous cranberry sauce and of course we top it off with a good ol' fashioned pumpkin pie. We usually sit around afterwards stuffed while watching a good movie or show on satellite television from DirectStarTV.com. It's the perfect way to end our Thanksgiving dinner at my aunt's house.
Once we have finished our movie we usually look over the ad's for the next day's big deals on Black Friday
shopping. We are planning to try to get all of our Christmas shopping that day and we really want to take advantage of the great deals they are having especially on toys and electronics.
After that we go home and get out all of our Christmas decorations to put up. The kids love getting to help decorate as my husband goes outside to put up the lights on the house. It makes for a perfect Thanksgiving day.

My Birth Dad Has Poor Taste In Movies

Thanks to Joaquin Hester

My birth dad visited me for the first time this past weekend. We were finally connected after 35 years. You wouldn't believe how - on a social networking site. I guess that's not so unbelievable, but I don't have an account. He contacted my wife, who has a different last name than me. I guess you can find anything if you look hard enough - or smart enough. Our weekend consisted of a lot of talking, eating, and exploring. I guess staying active keeps the nerves away. By nighttime, we felt like winding down, so I turned on movies on demand on my satellite tv from http://www.directstartv.com/directv_equipment/directv_receivers.html and searched for something that would entertain us both. After some debating over three options, we went with The Taking of Pelham 123 with John Travolta.
To make a long story short, I was not impressed with this movie. What really didn't work for me was Travolta as a bad guy. I didn't think he sold it well at all. I could tell he was acting the whole time. I want to forget it's a movie and that people are acting; I want to be completely drawn in to a movie. The good news is that my birth dad enjoyed it very much. Either that or he was just saying it to make me feel good. But I think he sincerely enjoyed it, so that made it worthwhile. That said, next time I'm picking the movie.

90210

Guest post from: Mohamed Simon

When I was a teenager, Beverly Hills 90210 was the most popular show on television for kids my age. From the characters to the actors to the story lines, I loved everything about it. Now that I am a bit older, I rarely indulge in TV shows. When I heard that Beverly Hills 90210 was being redone a couple of years ago, I couldn't resist watching it. I have to admit that it is now one of my guilty pleasures.
I like everything about the new show too. I like that a couple of the actors have resumed their roles from the old show. Kelly Taylor and her mother as well as Brenda Walsh and Nate are the ones I have enjoyed the most. I also like that the story is pretty much the same. A brother and sister from the Midwest move to Beverly Hills and must adjust to a much different high school setting than what they are used to.
Between their friends, parents and teachers, the siblings find themselves in various relationship conflicts. Teen pregnancy, alcohol and drugs are dealt with on the show since these issues all factor into realistic lives as well. The one story line I haven't liked is the sister killing a man while she was driving under the influence and not telling anyone about it. It just seems a bit unrealistic to me, but then again it is television. I'm usually not home when this airs, so I always have it set to record on with http://www.directstartv.com/directv_current_offer.html. I don't want to miss even a single episode!

Bluebird

Again, watching my backyard birds this morning. And as I was watching a small cutie pie Bluebird passed the window. I grabbed my camera and ...
