Leap Year Pope

The only leap year baby to become pope was Paul 111, who was born in Italy on this in 1468. The former Alessandro Farnese became pope in 1534. He convened the Council of Trent in 1545. He was a significant patron of the arts, and commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Last Judgement on the wall of the Sistine Chapel.
Pope Paul 111 died in 1549. He is buried in a tomb which Michelangelo designed.

Leaning Tower of Pisa

The leaning Tower of Pisa is the bell tower for the Catholic cathedral of the city of Pisa. located along the Arno River in Italy.
The tower was built in the 11th century and is Pisa's third oldest building (only the cathedral and its baptistry are older).
Within five years of being finished, the tower began to lean. Alarmed, the government halted further work for 100 years, hoping the ground would settle. Construction resumed in 1272, but when the tower began to lean even more, work was stopped again. Finally, construction resumed in the early 14th century, and it would take nearly 800 years to complete the tower.
In 1838, when a pathway was dug at the base of the tower so that people could see the base, the tower began to lean even more.
On February 27, 1964, the government of Italy asked for help in keeping the Leaning Tower of Pisa from toppling over. A team of engineers installed a temporary counter-weight.
In 1990, the tower was closed and re-anchored. It re-opened in 2001 for tourists.
Today, even though it is still leaning, the tower is considered safe and sturdy.

Baptism:Cleansing or drowning?

Since Lent is all about baptism, on Sundays we'll take a closer look at this sacrament.

Lent got started as in intense period of spiritual exercises for adults in their last stage of preparation for baptism. during this time, the community not only prayed for these adults, they also fasted, gave alms, and spent time pondering the implications of their own baptism.
The Jews practiced many kind of water purification. Priests washed themselves ritually before  exercising sacred functions. People had to be purified with water after they touched a corpse, bone or a tomb. Some Jewish leaders required a ritual washing before eating.
Baptism is very different from these ritual cleansing. The Jewish washing rituals were self-administered, and could be repeated many times. Christian baptism, on the other hand, is administered by another person, and is one-in-a-lifetime.
Most of all, baptism is not primarily a washing, but an immersion into water. The Greek words used to describe Jewish purification rituals mean to wash or sprinkle. On the other hand, "baptism" comes from a Greek word that means "to plunge" - for example, plunging cloth into dye, or to become submerged in water and drown.
At the heart of Christian baptism is dying ("drowning") to one way of living and rising to a new way of life.

FMTSO- Motion

I find this challenge hard. ^_^ that's what I thought but when I started browsing my photo archive I found many and I only choose four this time. ^_^

I almost delete this photo but I found it unique. Two photos in one with motion that I cannot re-create unless it is accidental because it is.

This was taken on the dance floor while catching a kid dancing.

                                                         This was last summer.

Wohooo on top of the world!!

Online Business Systems

I have been blog hopping today and I am impressed of what I read about Online Business Systems . The first time I learn about computer and touch computer is when I was in college. That time there will be five students working on a problem for one computer so not all students could tinker around the computer. After almost 20 years internet was booming and almost all the household has computer is when I really found out that computer is fun specially if there is an internet connection. However, one thing that sticks to my mind how huge and small business could can work well with computers and on the internet. Now I know that Online Business Systems work is helping clients through planning, transforming, and managing their IT environments I got excited my question has been answered knowing there is this kind of business whose field is into helping special clients is awesome. One thing that I also know is that Online Business Systems has been the “Best Workplaces in Canada” for five consecutive years, how cool is that!

Incomeathome.com

Hubby and I were talking today about what we are going to do when spring and summer is here. I told him I really like for me him to make me an herb garden and huge flower garden. I even want a mini forest and a secret garden somewhere in our backyard. I know he also does not know where to begin unless there is somebody who would help him and me to plan it. Then our topic shifted to a incomeathome.com site that my SIL send to us the other day. He asked me if I already did look what the site is all about and I told him that incomeathome.com is about knowing how to make money at home and I did check it last night but in detail. I have been looking for more ways to learn how to make money at home because it is fun and at the same time rewarding.

Signs

Some of the signs I found inside Detroit Institute of Arts.

Sylvania 7" starter kit

Remember my post last Sunday. I bought a Sylvania 7" mini  tablet starter kit and of course the Sylvania 7" tablet for a whooping $89.99++ I am thinking of giving this to my nephew when I will visit them this year. Anyway, when I started to insert the casing (I choose red) to the tablet it won't fit! I wonder why? Then I try to insert the case stand and still the same. What the heck? I thought it has the same size and so it fits but it won't. I was frustrated I don't want to spend another money for silicone cases and case stand for now I'll try to squeeze and squeeze until it fits, lol!

Valentine & Kabartas

Do any of you think about how and why a third party or a collection agency has to know your phone number or address?  Well I guess because there is an industry for these. I know of Valentine & Kebartas as a third party collection agency. Their goal is to help with an utmost care to their clients. Where can you find a third party collection agency that had this goal? I think that is why Valentine & Kabartas are still here doing there business. In addition, every business who deals customers who are hard to collect their dues has to look and go for Valentine & Kabartas because it is worth the time.

Signtronix

One of the first things that I notice when I travel all over the country is the sign along the road. Some are huge and fancy, some are simple and some are colorful and with lights. Before I know the name of Signtronix , I ask myself where these companies buy this huge signs or signage. I am impressed that they could make very good graphics some has even lights on them. This morning I was browsing in the internet and happen to read the word Signtronix I get curious.  I read the article and thankfully, I had my questions answered. Signtronix is the nation’s manufacturer of business signage for independent business owners. Now I know to who and where to find a great signage just in case one of my friends would someday use signage for their business.

Ash Wednesday

Ashes on the forehead. In Ancient times, many people used ashes for religious, magical and medical purposes. In the Old Testament, ashes were sprinkled on the head or over the whole body as a sign of mourning and penance.
Receiving ashes on the first day of Lent is a practice that dates back to the fifth century, and by the 11th century was a universal Christian practice. During the Reformation, most Protestant Churches eliminated the use of ashes. In recent years, however, many of these Churches have resumed the practice.

Bob Beck Sales Expert

I know some people who could sell anything and everything. My father and sister can sell what ever they could find and it is not hard for them to do that. I do not know if it takes courage or just plain talent that would lead to be and expert. What I do also think is that we could also be train like what Bob Beck Sales Expert, as everybody knows him. Bob Beck does trainings in any kind of sales. He is a CEO and a sales trainer in his company that he founded Sales Builders Inc. Bob Beck Sales Expert is not just to him because he shares his experience and expertise through his book “Mutual Respect”. Not all successful person would do that but not with Bob Beck a well-known sales expert and still going strong in his field.

Alliant Group

Have you heard about Alliant Group? Alliant Group has an expertise on staff to identify qualifying activities that you may have never labeled “R&D”. Activities associated with improving current products and services can qualify for tax incentives in the same way that research and development efforts for new products and services are eligible, and this is where alliantgroup can assist businesses with maximizing the tax credits. How nice to know that there is such company who take care of other businesses in their tax credits. Because as for me, with the every law that changes all the time some businesses cannot cope up with the changes. In addition, it is just right that we ought to know about this things and Alliant Group can do it for you.

Gary Pryor

Gary Pryor extensive experience is in Wall Street, which began with Merrill Lynch International and the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York. During his tenure at Morgan, he completed training in advanced accounting, credit analysis and corporate finance, and proved his skills in Morgan’s fixed income securities department where he managed clients such as Paccar, Boeing, University of California Schools and Van Munching.  I am always amazed of people like Gary Pryor who could reach the highest educational attainment and success in their career. It is always very inspiring to read and hear a story like Gary Pryor. With what is going on in our surrounding we need people like this story who could inspire us to work hard and study hard.

Lia Sophia

I love jewelries. I know not all women love jewelries but I guess it is 95% love jewelries though. When I arrive here in the US, I found one jewelry line that amazes me and that isLia Sophia . A friend mine wore it from a party. I asked her where she gets those jewelries she said she sold it. It does not take look for her to gather a bunch of friends because the next week she invites us to go to her house and have a Lia Sophia party. My jaw drop when I saw all the jewelries. It does not take me long to like them and try to choose which one I would buy. At the end, I bought two jewelries from the party, which until now I am still using.

Marvelous Blue Sky

The other day we had another beautiful sunset. It was blue and reddish. It's amazing to watched how the sky changed its color I would love to stay for a while but because it was too cold I went inside the house and from the window I watched the beautiful blue sunset faded.

Sylvannia 7" Tablet

As we all know Apple Ipad is too pricey for me. But the good news is there are many other brands who made tablets. I opted to buy a cheap one but has the same usage so when an email from Big Lots saying there will be a Presidential sale for tablet and it cost only $89.99, I keep an eye on it. So these morning after church hubby and I went to Big Lots and without further ado I bought it! I like the size of 7 inches because I can only put it in my purse, it is very handy. There are many tablets that come out with a size of 10 inches it's kind of big already I might as well carry my laptop, lol. So here it is my new Sylvania tablet.

Then I found a casing or plastic shield and found this for $29.00. I am happy I can't wait to use this tonight and by the way I can download my ebooks in here. One thing I would buy is an additional memory chip. I know that by March all the new gadgets will come out and all the stuff will become old but what the heck I know living here in the US is a fast pace that electronics has 6 months life span hehe. But I would never try to keep up with all this electronics coming in and out like crazy because for sure I will be broke in the end lol! But got to have this one ^_^

Clipix: Organize Your Life!

Spring is just a month away and a person like me is starting to organize the seeds that I am going to plant this year.  Last year I have not planted vegetables but plenty of flowers and this year I vow to myself to plant vegetables and put up an herb garden. Organizing is hard especially when the task overwhelm you.  It takes a discipline person to get the organizing right. People will leave in the middle of organizing because they do not have the inspiration to finish the task. Just last week I found out through a friend about clipix. I have not heard clipix before. The websites that I love to visit all the time I can organize it and that makes it easier for me to navigate those websites everyday. When I get home, I look clipix right away and because I am a beginner, I have a hard time at first but when I get the mechanics, I had so much fun. I have so many websites that I have not visited in years. Right now I am browsing my old notebook looking for those websites that I so like few years ago. Here are some of my tips while browsing clipix and slowly organizing my websites, I watch  .
It helps me a lot. If you have not tried clipix, yet go visit the website and sign up. I am for sure you would be very happy all the websites you like to visit from time to time is now organize. Take a look of my board though it is not finish yet.

Sky Watch Friday

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. but I think the real miracle is not to walk on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle. ---Thich Nhat Hanh
Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing wonder and awe --- the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me --- Immanuel Kant
