Ni Hao Kai Lan

This is a guest blog from  Julia Richey

Ni Hao Kai Lan is a great new show that comes on direcTV all the time. My girls and I like to watch it because it teaches a completely different language than most of the other shows that come on. Even though Spanish is a widely used language in the US, I prefer for my kids to know something different and Kai Lan follows along in Dora’s footsteps, but teaches Chinese words instead.
Aside from that, I like this show for my children because it’s cute and it appeals to them solely based on the fact that they are young and they are girls. This show is also educational in that it teaches children vital social skills. In conjunction with other educational programming, Ni Hao Kai Lan is a bombshell and it can teach children very important survival skills as well as manners and etiquette.
This show is very colorful and has cheerful characters that seem very believable. The message in each show is different and it’s always important to remember certain aspects of the show so that the viewer can interact with questions the characters ask. Ni Hao Kai Lan has excellent values and manners and is always teaching important words in Chinese to its viewers, which is a great thing to have close at hand. If I didn’t know any better, I would say my kids would watch this show all day.
