Automatic Tubig Machine

The 4th time I visited my family in the Philippines I was just so amazed by how much my hometown boomed so fast. New buildings are constructed all over. And the people, too many for just a two way street! I don't know where those people came from but I also realized that my hometown is one of the center city of northern part of Mindanao. We have two universities and several colleges. Aside from that we have a sea port and an airport so it does make sense then. But one thing that stirred my curiosity is the Automatic Tubig Machine or ATM. At first I never knew nothing about it until I and my nieces and nephew went to Greenwich for a light snack. Before we reached the door at Greenwich I looked at my right side and stopped for awhile and stared and read and was so amazed of what I discover hmmm a tubig machine I thought it was just so cool. We were inside Greenwich but still the ATM is in my mind hehe because I can't wait to try! After the kids were done eating I asked them to show me how to get water from the machine and my nephew who is just too willing to show me pose first before getting the water lol. The water is worth one peso per plastic cup and it is cold which is good for a summer stroll. But whoever invented that machine is just so cool and it's a thumbs up. I am so impressed

Star Kargo?

Last November 16, 2008 my huge box for Pinas was picked up by an agent of Star Kargo (AbS-Cbn).  I was used to send my box with Forex because I can track it down in there website. But this time the agent said that he is into Star Kargo and so I switch.  Christmas and New Year came and gone still no box. But before Christmas I called there customer service and after  New Year too but still I only be answered they couldn't track the package yet hmmp! So I tried to reasoned out to myself that it  might  be because of the holiday that the package is not yet there in Manila. So I stretched out my patience and let the weeks passed. Yesterday, I called the agent because I already wondered how come the box is not yet delivered where the heck is my box?? I found out that the SKIL # that is in my receipt is not the SKIL # that the agent had. I was already started to be pissed off but choose to be calmed (inhaleeeee exhaleeeee!!) After I talked to the agent I called the number that he gave me and I found out that it is another agent from Chicago and he told me that the box arrived in Philppines December 10!!!! Again this agent gave me another phone number that I have to call to confirm and that is the STar Kargo customer service! I didn't say anything to this agent that I knew their customer service number by heart  since November 2008. Still I have to keep calm and recollect myself because the lava is already ready to be spewed!! After I talked to this agent in Chicago, I called their customer service number and answered all the information she needed. But ended up telling me that I had to call back after two hours because Manila office is not yet open at that time Grrrrrr!! So I waited for two long hours and called again. This time the woman who answered was able to locate the box and told me that the box is already in our town and it will be delivered 1 or two days!! Geezzz! AFter more than 2 months and 8 days the box is not yet physically delivered in our door step. And so therefore, with my experienced with ABS-CBN STAR KARGO??? I rated them -5,  thumbs down , very poor service!!

Eight Amazing Holes..

I just got this email from a friend and it freak me out. I have a little kind of phobia with water, holes, creepo thingy things and this is one of them.

These holes are not only amazing, but some of them are really terrifying - especially #8! The sheer scale of these holes reminds you of just how tiny you are.

1. Kimberley Big Hole, South Africa

Apparently the largest ever hand-dug excavation in the world, this 1097 meter deep mine yielded over 3 tons of diamonds before being closed in 1914.

2. Glory Hole - Monticello Dam, California
A glory hole is used when a dam is at full capacity and water needs to be drained from the reservoir This is the 'Glory Hole' at Monticello dam, and it's the largest in the world of this type of spillway, its size enabling it to consume 14,400 cubic feet of water every second.

3. Bingham Canyon Mine, Utah

This is supposedly the largest man-made excavation on earth. Extraction began in 1863 and still continues today, the pit increasing in size constantly. In its current state the hole is miles deep and 2.5 miles wide.

4. Great Blue Hole, Belize
This incredible geographical phenomenon known as a blue hole is situated 60 miles off the mainland of Belize. There are numerous blue holes around the world, but none as stunning as this one.

5. Mirny Diamond Mine, Serbia
This one is an absolute beast and holds the title of largest open diamond mine in the world. At 525 meters deep, with a top diameter of 1200 meters, there's even a no-fly zone above the hole due to a few helicopters having been sucked in.

6. Diavik Mine, Canada
The mine is so huge and the area so remote that it has its own airport with a runway large enough to accommodate a Boeing 737. It looks equally cool when the surrounding water is frozen.

7. Sinkhole in Guatemala

These photos are of a sinkhole that occurred early this year in Guatemala . The hole swallowed a dozen homes and killed at least 3 people.

And the most terrifying one of all?

#8
This is the famous 'Rat Hole' that you have heard about.
It is capable of swallowing trillions and trillions of U.S.
Dollars... Annually! Never to be heard from again.

I didn't see that coming. Did You?

Past and present

--Yesterday, hubby and me attended the funeral service of our friends baby girl who died last Saturday. The baby just barely lived for 2 hours. After the service we went to Cathys father in laws house for a small luncheon.

-- Last night my favorite tv series LOST  premieres their 5th season. I am so over gaga about this tv show that I watched the whole 1st, 2nd and 3rd season in just one setting.

-- Today I am kind of busy though because I am recapping the last 4 season episodes on the ABC.com website here on my laptop. So got to go friends be back later.

How deep is your snow?

I love nature. And with the digital camera nowadays I can capture some moment that are worth keeping. I live where snow is part of our life. In winter it will be a miracle if we don't have at least 4 inches of snow and the most that I have experienced is more than 10 inches. When I was in the RP I thought that snow happens only in Christmas time lol. Through all the years specially in Christmas time I often see Christmas cards with photos of a house that has a chimney and covered with snow. But then I found out that snow doesn't come on Christmas, it starts to fall before Thanksgiving until almost May!!! Oh yes we have a long winter here in MI. Sometimes nakakaumay din ha. By the way I am going 5 years here in MI but haven't made a snowman ever!! Ang lamig sa labas di ko feel.

Okey so here is what it looks like pag mag snow kami.

And here is what it looks like pag ang snow na melt na lahat. Diba ang lalim nang snow namin compare above.

2nd Sunday of 2009

Woke up today around 8:30 in the morning. I felt like not going to the church but I remember that today is the celebration of the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus. So I prepared myself and eat my breakfast. I tried to woke up hubby but he seems that he is so deep in his slumber hehe. So I just whispered his ear that we will be going to church at 10 am miraculously he nodded lol.  The mass was completed at 11:30 am and we left the church and went to Nuggets resto at Oxford to have our brunch. After our brunch we went to Lapeer to visit Uncle Willard and Aunt Mary after staying there for quite a while we went to visit hubbys cousin Bernard and Marcy. It was dark when we leave their house, I told my honey that we have to stopped by at Wal-Mart for some  grocery shopping so we did and left Lapeer around 7:30pm. That was our activities for today and I am kind of tired and sleepy but have to watched movie first before hitting the hay.

1st Sunday of 2009

This was the picture that was taken at John and Lanies New Year dinner.

Dianne and Barry gave us this box full of different cuts of beef as a Christmas gift. Suddenly our 5.5 cu ft freezer overflowed with beef. Hubby and me are not beef eater though but we are so thankful of the kindness.
So it is Sunday today, and the church celebrated the Epiphany of the Lord. I also remember it is my cousins and my uncles birthday. And I also remember it is about time to take down all the Christmas decorations and ornaments. We were talking about not putting it down yet but it is kind of weird too if we still have a christmas tree on valentines day lol. Happy Three Kings!!

It's a New Year...

The first sunrise of 2009

So here we are starting to spend our time and days with the New Year. The night before New Year hubby and me were watching movies and when it was almost 12 midnight we hopped in bed and just watched Fox news live in New York. Hubby dozed to sleep immediately while I stayed a little bit trying to find a good channel other than then news. Finally, I slept and waked the next day feeling sleepy though. I immediately told hubby that we have to go to church to attend the mass at 10:00 am. What can we do for the first day in the year but to attend mass right? So we were at the church a little bit early but it was worth the time, I am so happy that we started the day and year at mass can't beat that.

After mass, we immediately went at Lanie and Johns house for a new year dinner with us is rowena and her husband henry and the little girl Ashley. We stayed there for at least 5 hours chatting, catching up things since I haven't been to so many parties for the past few months since Doreen got sick and died. So, so many things to catched up though. From Lanies we stopped by at my step-sons house and stayed for awhile chit-chatting with his son.

Last, January 1 too is my niece 19th year birthday. Hayyyy parang kailan lang, we were at the waiting room at the hospital, and her mother was laboring, tears rolled down her cheeks, I could see the face of my sisters face I also cried lol. When she came out and the nurse showed her to us I was just so happy, I said to myself here is my first niece, I am going to love her and spoiled her. Though I didn't spoiled her that much but I do loved her so much like my very own.

My prayer is that this year will be a very good year inspite of the economic crises we are experiencing now. As hubby always said " I haven't seen like this economic crunch like this one" but we have to trust in God and put ourselves in Gods economy. Happy New Year to all and thank you for the wonderful time of 2008.

Bluebird

Again, watching my backyard birds this morning. And as I was watching a small cutie pie Bluebird passed the window. I grabbed my camera and ...
