I'm a fully grown adult. I can smoke, drink, vote, and fight for my country with the full weight of the law behind me. I can watch R-rated movies without supervision. I can no longer order from the kids' menu. I'm a bonafide grown up.I'm still going trick or treating this year.
It's not for the candy - I could buy myself a bag of chocolate if I wanted it that badly. And it's not for the costume either - I don't need a special holiday, I could wear one any day of the year. (Sure, I'd get weird looks walking down the street, but it's still possible.)No, I'm going trick or treating for the experience. I want to dress up Halloween night and recapture some of my youth, those glorious days when everything was exciting and new. I want to wear face paint and roam the streets having a good time without any judging me.
I want to be a kid again, if only for one night. No worries. No responsibilities. Just friends, fun, and fun-sized snacks.
And when I get home, I'm going to curl up on the couch with all my goodies and maybe some Salt Lake City satellite tv, and then I'm going to make myself sick on candy because my parents can't stop me. Ah, the benefits of being an adult!
